Nissan Built These Awesome Retro Off-Road Rigs But You Can’t Buy Them

  • Nissan has launched 55th Anniversary versions of the Navara and Terra in the Philippines.
  • The models feature nostalgic decals and a few off-road accessories including new wheels.
  • The anniversary specials won’t be offered for sale, as they were created as one-offs.

Nissan might be developing a new Navara and Frontier for Latin America, with a different version planned for other markets, but its Philippine division has just unveiled a new build based on the outgoing generation of the pickup. The Navara 55th Anniversary Edition made its debut at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, appearing alongside a similarly customized version of the mechanically related Terra SUV.

Unfortunately for Nissan fans, these builds won’t be hitting dealerships. They’re one-off concepts created to mark 55 years of Nissan’s presence in the Philippine market. Both vehicles feature a white exterior with dark trim details and a range of aftermarket parts, highlighting what can be done with the platform, at least in terms of appearance.

Custom Styling With a Familiar Base

Starting with the Navara, it comes with a rugged new bumper extension finished in matte gray, accented with red highlights. These touches mirror the styling of the PRO-4X trim, including a matching skid plate and a revised grille. Nissan has also equipped the front end with a pair of PIAA LED lights, offering improved visibility for nighttime driving.

From the side, retro-style 4×4 decals give the truck a throwback look, tapping into the current wave of nostalgic off-road design. The standout feature, however, is the set of polished aftermarket alloy wheels wrapped in proper off-road tires, an upgrade that makes the aging platform look noticeably more purposeful.

For the Terra SUV, the updates follow a similar approach. PIAA LEDs are integrated into the grille, while the side graphics are more subdued. It also rides on all-terrain rubber, mounted on a set of black Black Rhino wheels. Inside, both vehicles feature 55th Anniversary branding stitched into the headrests and badging on the tailgates to mark the occasion.

Aftermarket Touches, But No Power Upgrades

Underneath, nothing has changed. Both the Navara and Terra stick with the familiar 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine. It produces 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission and a traditional 4WD system. Nissan hasn’t mentioned any changes to the suspension or chassis, which likely means the hardware remains stock.

The current generation of the Navara has been around since 2014, although Nissan rolled out a facelift in 2020. As for the Terra, the three-row SUV was launched in 2018, with a mid-lifecycle update following three years later. While the Navara will get a new generation in the near future, there is no information about a successor to the Terra.

Also featured at Nissan’s Manila show stand was the latest version of the Patrol, now available for order in the Philippines with the same specifications as the global model.
